What is the first thing we notice when we meet someone to make a lasting memory of them? It is the way they smiled with their teeth, radiating to their eyes and with all their heart. What more can we cherish than someone’s warm smile, especially that of a child.
In 2018, the MEI Foundation conducted a Dental Healthcare awareness event in Kandy to check the oral health of the local children. Dr. Kifaya Ifthikar and Dr. Hifras Inayathullah, from the MEI Foundation, volunteered to do a free oral checkup for the kids. Then the event concluded by distributing some goodies for the kids. Those with dental issues were directed by the parents to visit a dentist at the hospital to treat. In the pictures are the kids who had attended the one day event, all happily seated awaiting their turn and to the far right is the MEI Foundation Founder and Chairman, Zainab Ifthikar.
Here at MEI we strive at a community level to help people one step at a time, one person at a time, one story at a time. Our smile tells our story before we even begin to say something, and if we all have the privilege to tell that story then so should these children and millions more across the world. After you have read this article, we urge you to go do something right now, as little as sending a “how are you doing” message to a loved one that will plaster this sensational smile across their face. Keep smiling, it is the warmest form of kindness you can spread!
