A sustainability mindset with an environment-friendly goal. This is what inspired MEI to the Soles for Seeds program.
This program involves distributing school shoes to underprivileged children in some of the government schools across select regions in Sri Lanka. The innovation we have added to the project is to obtain a plant in return from these children, which they had grown themselves at home.
The aim is to encourage an entrepreneurial mindset amongst these young minds which helps them in accepting their shoes not as a donation but as something they earned themselves. It also aims to support the environment and home-based gardener or farmer to whom we will re-distribute these plants to. This closed loop cycle fosters the values of empowerment and the environment.
