Soles for Seeds commenced at the Al-Hamra Vidyala school in the Kandy district in July 2023, where we distributed school shoes to twenty-five children who were in need.
The children were selected by the school principal based on the most needful candidates. As the students filed into the classroom, the sheer excitement on their little faces was a delight to watch. Each student brought with them a home-grown plant in accordance with the terms of the Soles for Seeds project.
With a seed for the future, we hope that they will continue to plant their footsteps towards excellence moving forward.
The MEI Foundation's general secretary Dr. Kifaya Ifthikar and treasurer, Mrs. Halidha Hilluru inaugurated the soft launch, which is one of a series of schools to come.
