With the wave of the economic crisis crippling the stability of Sri Lanka in 2021, the healthcare industry suffered the biggest hit. Patients sprawling to receive basic health interventions secondary to financial barriers proved to be a major turning point that led us to extend our support during this era.
In 2021, upon receiving a request for oxygen port installation from the District General Hospital Matale, the MEI Foundation donated 50,000 Rs. towards this project. This enabled oxygen provision to COVID-19 and other oxygen dependent patients being admitted at the hospital.
Following this event, in 2022 through the foundation we were able to provide urinary catheters and glucose testing strips to the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital. The medical supplies were handed over to the hospital directly by an MEI representative.
